Love is in the air, and wedding season is just around the corner. Get inspired by the romantic looks in this beautiful shoot Giuliano did for California Wedding Day magazine (on news stands now) featuring the always stunning Amanda Booth from LA Models, wardrobe styling by Kate Riney, hair by Damien Carney, and makeup by Annie Ing of Celestine Agency.
A few months ago Giuliano shot Paul Mitchell‘s prom campaign for Seventeen Magazine with makeup artist Anthony Merante and the ads just released -check out these super fun shots below! *Side note from the in house product junkie – this hair spray is AMAZING (unlike my tightly curled crunchy 90′s prom up-do which was really quite tragic). How amazing did everyone look at the Oscars last night? We were loving the Hollywood glam throwback on some of the hottest celebrities that graced the red carpet. Jessica Chastain, Adele, Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Lawerence and Charlize Theron were some of our favorites rocking the classic old Hollywood look but with a modern twist. Being that we live in the heart of it all, we’re still feeling the energy and excitement over here at Lightbox Studio, and wanted to share with you some of our favorite Hollywood glam hair styles from one of Giuliano’s shoots with hair stylist and makeup artist Olaf Derlig. What were some of your favorite Oscar looks? Continue reading
We’ve had some cold weather lately in LA – it even got down to 40° F in some areas this week and believe it or not, our (distant) mountains are covered in a dusting of snow. That’s a big deal in this neck of the woods! It’s been a crazy winter storm season and to our friends who get real snow, we don’t know how you do it! In sympathy for the snow, we’re posting some of our favorite shots from our man-made Malibu snow storm last month for New Zealand based shoe and bag company Merchant 1948 with creative director Thomas Cannings. Check them out and enjoy!
Our lovely friends at Merchant 1948 (you may remember them from our shoot in the desert over the summer) came all the way from New Zealand to team up with us and No Name Productions for their Winter 2013 shoot and we made it snow in Malibu just for them! Take a look at a sneak peek behind the scenes and stay tuned for more updates.
As Giuliano’s Editorial Director, I get to spend my days surrounded by amazingly talented individuals, and witness some pretty magical creative collaborations. As a self-proclaimed beauty product junkie, I’m in heaven, spending time with top glam crews, and admiring their coveted kits. These talented people are directly responsible for creating some of the most iconic, drool-worthy looks, and keeping celebrities and models looking fabulous. They know all the tips and tricks and their kits are filled with the best tried and true goodies. These awesome humans have shown me how to fix terrible under-eye circles (when you love your work…you tend to work a lot – we don’t sleep much around here) and perked my hair up on the worst of hair days. I’ve been toying with doing a weekly spotlight on our blog introducing some of our favorite hair and makeup artists, and sharing their favorite products, tips, and tricks with you, and with the new year upon us, what better time than the present?
The holidays are over, we are now in the thick of winter, dreaming about sunny, warm days (ok, we get those often in Los Angeles but we ARE having a colder than usual winter) and hunting for ways to fix our tired, drab winter hair and skin while sticking to our New Year’s resolutions of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Meet Mara Schiavetti – Green Hair Stylist with Cloutier Remix and owner of the website A Green Beauty. We had the opportunity to work with Mara recently on our “winter wonderland” inspired shoot with celebrity Evanna Lynch (best known for her work in Harry Potter) and I was so inspired by her approach to green beauty that I felt she was perfect for the first Beauty Spotlight of the new year.
Below is Mara’s response to her favorite must-have products during the winter (and check out some of the shots from our shoot too!).
All the best,
