An Easy Rider With a Heart of (Ulee’s) Gold

Kurv Magazine_Giuliano Bekor_Fonda_1

A few months ago, Giuliano was asked to shoot counter-culture icon (and one of my personal heroes) Peter Fonda (!!!) for Australian magazine Kurv. We spent the day laughing, listening to music, hanging out with his lovely wife, hearing amazing candid stories, and receiving an unexpected education about important environmental issues close to Mr. Fonda’s heart (for more on that, please visit www.peterfonda.com).

We’ve been patiently waiting to release the shots, and finally, the Kurv issue hit news stands this week. Check out a small selection of images below (wardrobe styling by Avo Yermagyan, grooming by Barbara Lamelza, and prop styling by Kim Pretti) with a few behind the scenes shots thrown in as well, and make sure to pick up a copy of Kurv! Now pardon me while I shamelessly take a moment to re-live my ultimate fan girl moment. :-) Continue reading

Hollywood Glam

GIULIANOBEKOR_HAIR4How amazing did everyone look at the Oscars last night? We were loving the Hollywood glam throwback on some of the hottest celebrities that graced the red carpet. Jessica Chastain, Adele, Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Lawerence and Charlize Theron were some of our favorites rocking the classic old Hollywood look but with a modern twist. Being that we live in the heart of it all, we’re still feeling the energy and excitement over here at Lightbox Studio, and wanted to share with you some of our favorite Hollywood glam hair styles from one of Giuliano’s shoots with hair stylist and makeup artist Olaf Derlig. What were some of your favorite Oscar looks?  Continue reading

La La La

We’re feelin’ Snoop Dogg‘s new single La La La on set lately. It’s reggae-infused and chill and perfect for lazy summer afternoons. Given that we’re Snoop fans and had the Doggy Dogg stop by the studio for a King Magazine shoot once upon a time, we did some research on what’s new. Turns out, Snoop’s forthcoming album Reincarnated is made under his new Rasta identity Snoop Lion. Can’t wait to hear more! In the meantime, enjoy these snaps. Continue reading

Ring Leaders

A victory dance is wrapping up for Team USA as the Fierce Five claimed gold in last week’s Olympic games. It was a dramatic competition, with heartbreak, breakthrough performances, and an inspiring story from Gabby Douglas–the first African American woman to win the individual all-around gold. Congratulations, ladies! Continue reading

True Blood studs Ryan Kwanten and Sam Trammell

While one of our favorite shows ended, another began. True Blood’s fifth season started last night and we couldn’t wait to sink our teeth into these handsome stars, Ryan Kwanten and Sam Trammell. Giuliano Bekor shot the actors, known respectively as Jason Stackhouse and Sam Merlotte on the HBO’s hit vampire series. We have shown you these shots before, but with faces like those, who wouldn’t want to see them again? Enjoy Truebies!

Happy Birthday, Marilyn Monroe!

Today we are focused on actress, model, singer, and arguably one of the most beautiful women to have walked the Earth, Marilyn Monroe. The sexy and talented leading lady is remembered most for her iconic fashion and retro glamour- defining the “Monroe-era” look that inspired this glamorous photo shoot by Giuliano Bekor. With blonde bombshells, sexy show-girls, and fluttering lashes, this collection embodies some of Marilyn’s biggest movies and most memorable characters. Her look- red lips, glossy skin, and thick liner- has been idolized by Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Dior, Jason Wu, Temperley London, Yves Saint Laurent during spring/summer fashion week. Marilyn Monroe is our star today, reminding us that our art continues to capture the epitome of allure and style as it has since June 1st, 1926. Happy Birthday, Marilyn Monroe!
