Going Beyond…A Beauty Spotlight

As Giuliano’s Editorial Director, I get to spend my days surrounded by amazingly talented individuals, and witness some pretty magical creative collaborations. As a self-proclaimed beauty product junkie, I’m in heaven, spending time with top glam crews, and admiring their coveted kits. These talented people are directly responsible for creating some of the most iconic, drool-worthy looks, and keeping celebrities and models looking fabulous. They know all the tips and tricks and their kits are filled with the best tried and true goodies. These awesome humans have shown me how to fix terrible under-eye circles (when you love your work…you tend to work a lot – we don’t sleep much around here) and perked my hair up on the worst of hair days. I’ve been toying with doing a weekly spotlight on our blog introducing some of our favorite hair and makeup artists, and sharing their favorite products, tips, and tricks with you, and with the new year upon us, what better time than the present?

The holidays are over, we are now in the thick of winter, dreaming about sunny, warm days (ok, we get those often in Los Angeles but we ARE having a colder than usual winter) and hunting for ways to fix our tired, drab winter hair and skin while sticking to our New Year’s resolutions of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Meet Mara Schiavetti – Green Hair Stylist with Cloutier Remix and owner of the website A Green Beauty. We had the opportunity to work with Mara recently on our “winter wonderland” inspired shoot with celebrity Evanna Lynch (best known for her work in Harry Potter) and I was so inspired by her approach to green beauty that I felt she was perfect for the first Beauty Spotlight of the new year.

Below is Mara’s response to her favorite must-have products during the winter (and check out some of the shots from our shoot too!).

All the best,

Mara Schiavetti’s Winter Must-Haves:

“There are some things that I need at my beck and call this winter. Our skin and hair takes a beating with the dry harsh winter air, and our immune systems need more nurturing to keep us strong and fit. And the psyche can suffer from the lack of sunshine and warmth. Here are some of my very favorite winter holistic health and beauty essentials”:

Yarok feed your shine: Organic ingredients and delicious results. Temper frustrating frizzies and static hat hair.

Jurlique Rose moisture plus: This aromatic extra moisturizing cream contains Rosehip, Avocado, Safflower and Macadamia oils for a luscious layer that softens and penetrates the skin, providing much needed nourishment.

Deepak Chopra’s meditation CD’s: Deepaks soulful voice guides a variety of affirming, healing meditation sessions. Its a great way to start your morning or end your work day.

: From the pristine lakes of Klamath mountain this algae is great for endurance and stamina. Increases mental focus and concentration. Promotes intestinal health and digestion. Helps normalize blood sugar levels.

No.3 Berry face oil by LA Christine
: Is a wonderful silky moisturizing serum that penetrates the skin beautifully, keeping it moist and dewy even in the midst of winter. Containing the antioxidant strengths of  Scandinavian Lingonberry, Brazilian Acai Berry and Raspberry.

Algea Omega
: This is a great source of Essential fatty acids. Its also the ideal vegetarian alternative to fish oil. Made from microalgae, it offers a plant-based source of beneficial marine omega-3s EPA and DHA without the use of fish. Its supports heart health, positive mood, immunity, and the body’s natural anti-inflammatory response.
